The centerpiece of the library's special holdings is the Blue Angels Collection. Donated by the famed flight demonstration squadron, these files document the team's history from their formation in 1946 to the present. Hundreds of rare photographs highlight the collection.

The library also possesses the personal papers and photographs of various naval officers, from famed fighter ace Admiral John S. Thach to Lieutenant Commander Frank Simpson, Jr., the Navy's 53rd aviator.

Other special collections include files relating to the history of airship operations and the Navy's famed weather reconnaissance squadron, the "Hurricane Hunters."
