Riders experience flight in a Navy F/A-18
Hornet on a low level mission, including high performance
turns and maneuvers.
The five minute motion simulator ride is a
multi-sensory experience that combines a movie-like audiovisual
presentation using a high-definition projection screen and
surround-sound with the motion of the ride compartment.
The fully enclosed simulator capsule, which accommodates
up to 15 passengers, can move in six directions, allowing
you to experience horizontal rolls, longitudinal pitches
and vertical climbs.
The simulator runs approximately every 15
minutes from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. daily. Passengers must
be 3 years old or older to ride.
Tickets are $3.50 per person. For groups of
20 people or more, there is a group rate. To receive this
rate, please contact our IMAX® Theater at (850) 453-2025
or (888) NAS-IMAX or [click]
here to e-mail us. Advance reservations are required
for the $2.50 per person price of Simulator tickets; whether
the reservations are for Simulator only or for Simulator
and an IMAX® Movie.

Technical Facts
What's so different about IMAX®
?

Since the earliest days of cinema, filmmakers have realized
that the bigger the image, the greater the impact on
the viewer.
Imagine the difference between watching a film at home
on video and the same film at a normal 35mm cinema.
The film might be the same, but the experience couldn't
be more different. Well, consider the jump from tradional
cinema to IMAX® as a similar, dramatic leap.
 |
The screens in IMAX® Theaters are the biggest
in the world!
Up to eight stories high, they are ten times larger
than a traditional cinema screen and fill the whole
field of human vision.
Made of stretched vinyl, coated with a reflective
silver paint, they are mounted taut over a scaffold
frame.
Speakers positioned behind the screen complete the
total surround-sound system.
Sound is critical to the IMAX® experience. The
film soundtracks are delivered through a mighty 15,000
watt digital surround-sound system design.
